Time to get back in the ring…

Let me guess. It could’ve been better?

Last week wasn’t your greatest. It started strong, with the best intentions and all, but by mid-week it had fallen by the wayside.

Work. Kids. Partner. Life. All the things…

It all gets in the way of practice, reading, exercise, and general wellbeing. Right? It’s tough.

I get it, and honestly, I’ve been there more times than I’d care to admit.

I am here today, to remind you right at the start of the week that we are not perfect, nor are we meant to be!

We are fallible, we are human, and that’s OK. Not only is it OK, it’s part of the experience. Take a breath.

Yes, we all have standards we aim for, and we do things every day to live up to them. But often we fall short. And like I said, that’s OK.

Because here’s the thing. One of the greatest features of the world we live in is that we get a full reset every single week.

It’s called Monday.

Every 7 days, we get another blank page. A clean slate to paint away on as we work at dialing things in to the level we’d truly like to.

Anything you didn’t get quite right last week stays in last week. Forget it. Stop dwelling. It’s happened, it’s gone. We don’t worry about the past, but we do learn from it, crack the code a little better, and throw our hat back in the ring.

This is how I operate, and it works. The mental load is minimal when I don’t quite hit the mark, which means one average week doesn’t derail the next ten. Instead, Monday hits and I get back in the ring with a sharper game plan.

Mondays are a gift. Start treating them like one.

Here’s some tips as to how I do it:

1. Bookend the week.

I don’t care how bad the middle gets. I always start and end things strong. A solid run, push-ups, squats, dips, pike push-ups, and some pad time.

2. Get up early on Monday.

As you know, early mornings are my jam. In my opinion, they are genuinely the secret to a life well lived. Busy day ahead? Get up at 4:30am. Do what it takes. Give your mind the time it needs before the world starts hassling you. I don’t care when it is, just as long as it’s at least 2.5 hours of you time, before everything kicks off.

3. Control what you can.

There are things coming at us every single day. That’s life. Just focus on what you have control over. Don’t waste energy on what others think. Don’t get caught up in fluff. Don’t stress about things that haven’t happened yet. Just show up for the things you can show up for, and manage how you react to everything else.

4. Seed your mind.

One thing I’ve started doing again is locking my phone in a timer lockbox at night. Why? Well, because I’m a dumb monkey. Plain and simple. Just like the rest of us, haha. And this approach guarantees three things-

  1. I start the day with just my thoughts while my coffee brews.
  2. I get straight into reading, which kickstarts a healthy mindset for the day.
  3. And I don’t fall into the doomscroll. A lot of my business runs through social media, so I have to manage it consciously. This is a genuine 10x move. I can’t stress how much smoother my day runs when I do this. It’s insane.

Bonus round: Choose your words carefully!

Your words are the leading indicator of your life. Behavioral psychology puts it like this:

What you say is what you think, what you think is what you feel, what you feel is what you do, and what you do produces the results in your life.

Your word is your wand. Only put out what you want back. That includes your self-talk too. Lock in to this idea.

So. There it is! Monday is here. The slate is clean. Time to dust off, take a sip of water, do a couple of side lunges, and get back in the ring!

Have a powerful week!!!

Stay hungry and healthy

Stan
